In 2026, Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and General Department of Taxation issued relatively few
wholly new tax regulations. Instead, most regulatory activity centered on sector-specific incentives, tax
administration and e-filing infrastructure, targeted VAT relief, and continued enforcement of existing
frameworks. Seven notable instruments are summarised below, spanning tourism incentives, capital gains tax
administration, VAT relief for petroleum products, invoicing rules for international waterway transport, control
of alcohol and sugar-sweetened beverage promotions, benchmark interest rates for related-party loans, and
property/unused land tax compliance reminders.
